How to safely clean gold jewelry at home
Protect your investment and restore the brilliance of gold jewelry at home.
There are lots of methods available online that will walk you through the jewelry cleaning process. The method described below is a safe method that almost anyone can try at home. We suggest trying a safe, non-chemical dependent method first, before moving onto chemical methods such as ammonia or other specialty cleaning agents.
Our simple 5-step process:
Step 1: Add a few drops of dish soap to warm water (not hot). You can also use a pure carbonated water (no added sugar or other substances) as well. Carbonated water will help loosen any dirt or particles.
Step 2: Let soak for 15 minutes.
Step 3: Gently scrub the jewelry with a Q-Tip or very soft cloth. WARNING – hard brushes or cloths can scratch or damage jewelry, please use caution.
Step 4: Rinse the jewelry in a bowl. TIP – avoid rinsing under running water as you may drop and lose the jewelry down the drain!
Step 5: Dry with a soft cloth or soft paper towel.
That’s it! The simple 5-step process described above should remove the tarnish and dirt from your gold jewelry. Try the safe process before moving onto chemical methods that require more precaution and safety measures!
