Gold Vermeil 101
What is Gold Vermeil?
Gold Vermeil is a thick coating of real gold, over a sterling silver core. The gold must be at least 1.5 microns to be considered Gold Vermeil.
Think of it as premium gold plating, but much better and thicker. Gold Vermeil is beautiful, long lasting, and affordable. At Jewelry Lane we offer Gold Vermeil in 11 shade variations, so you can get the perfect color for your skin tone. 10K / 14K / 18K / 21K / 22K Yellow Gold, 10K / 14K / 18K Rose Gold, 10K / 14K / 18K White Gold.
PS – it’s pronounced ‘ver – mey’.
PSS – Gold Vermeil does not love water. To extend the life of your Gold Vermeil jewelry, we recommend taking it off before working out or showering. Clean with a soft cloth.
A note on Sterling silver
Sterling Silver (also known as 925 Sterling Silver) is an alloy made of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper (hence the 925 stamp you will find on sterling silver jewelry).
Jewelry Lane sterling silver pieces are plated in brilliant rhodium finish, which gives it a beautiful shine and lustre. Rhodium will also help protect sterling silver from oxidizing.
PS – Sterling Silver does not love water. To extend the life of your sterling silver jewelry, we recommend taking it off before working out or showering. Clean with a soft cloth. Wear often as the oil and heat from your skin will also help to keep sterling silver from oxidizing, extending the life of the jewelry.
